About
Jingyi Bao is a visual artist based in Beijing and New York. She specializes in 2D animation and motion design. With a background in 2D Animation from Beijing Film Academy, she then pursued a master’s degree in Computer Arts at the School of Visual Arts in New York.
She participated in the production of Ballionia, a 2019 collaborative 2D animation project at the Beijing Film Academy, where she was responsible for the pre-production and mid-production work, including character design, environment concept design, poster illustration, storyboard, and key animation.
The concept designs and commemorative products she created for the Beijing Film Academy were showcased at the Academy’s 70th Anniversary Commemorative Exhibition in 2020. In 2023, she was invited as a guest lecturer for the online event 30 Days of Sketching, where she conducted a three-hour live sketching demonstration, provided feedback on student’s work, and answered their questions. In 2024, she interned at the Absorb: brand design studio in Beijing, doing motion design for various companies.
Jingyi Bao’s artworks are concise yet powerful, exploring themes of identity and memory with a special interest in subcultures. Her works can always inspire a sense of power and imagination in the viewer.
